Sava Dunes
Sava Dunes is barefoot luxury at its best and perfect for serious scuba divers. Its owners are dive masters and the sea-life here includes Manta Rays, Whalesharks and Humpback Whales depending on the time of year, and 16 different coral reef dive sites accessible in the Inhambane area. You can also organize other activities including deep sea fishing and kayaking through mangrove forests.
In keeping with their eco-ethos, Sava Dunes is completely “off-grid”. All electricity is generated by solar power and the crystal clear water is pumped from a borehole. The lodge has only 5 rooms, all with unobstructed 180-degree ocean views, offering guests complete exclusivity. The section of beach where Sava Dunes is situated is a little hideaway – very quiet, peaceful and romantic. The food is fresh and excellent and the views are stunning. Rooms are simple but clean and pleasant. For some guests looking for adventure, simplicity, great value for money and world class diving, this place is heaven.
The one downside to Sava Dunes is accessibility. After flying into Inhambane, the drive is 45 minutes to an hour on rough dirt roads. We love this off-the-beaten-path feeling, but it might not be for everyone.
