Olakira Camp
Olakira Camp is a mobile camp that moves twice annually to always remain in the vicinity of the Great Migration. From June through November, Olakira Mara River Camp is located in the Northern Serengeti in the Bolongoja region, just 300 yards from the Mara River at one of the migration’s crossing points. From December to March, the Olakira Ndutu Camp resides in the Southern Serengeti, east of the Ndutu region, among endless plains where wildebeest come to rest and calve, which in turn draws our predators. In both locations, the natural scenery is magnificent and you are assured of unsurpassed game viewing in two of the world’s prime conservation regions.
The 9 intimate canvas tents are spacious with comfortable beds, patios, and en-suite bathrooms with chemical flush toilets. In order to keep a light footprint, the tents have ‘safari showers,’ which essentially means that you have a limited supply of water. Olakira’s tents have some luxurious and romantic touches with their fine linens, vintage-chic décor, and their canvas chaise lounges. Moreover, the views are none to be reckoned with. The food is terrific but we find the staff is not as attentive as they should be.
