Mihingo Lodge is located on the top of a high kopje and commands an amazing 360-degree view of Lake Mburo National Park, and the mountains beyond. The scenery is incredible and offers the perfect spot for watching the sun set. The lodge has a beautiful pool that is set on the edge of a ledge that overlooks a waterhole below, where resident zebra and eland come to drink. The camp itself consists of 10 spacious permanent tents with thatched roofs, en-suite bathrooms with a rain shower, and private verandahs with a day bed and incredible views. The design is really interesting as it incorporates some of the lodge’s natural surroundings, like a shower being built around a huge boulder. The décor is really lovely here. The public areas are impressive and the food and service are excellent.
Activities offered at Mihingo include game drives, bush walks, boat rides on Lake Mburo, night drives, and horseback safaris. We recommend staying at least 2 nights at the end of your driving safari. It’s the perfect place to enjoy some of the more relaxing safari activities and enjoy the beautiful property after your gorilla and/or chimp treks. The only downside is that there are some stairs and steeper areas throughout the site, so for guests with mobility issues, we recommend a tent closer to reception.
