Miavana
Miavana, is one of Madagascar’s premiere eco luxury resorts. Travel to the private island of Nosy Ankao, just off the northeastern coast of Madagascar. Located in the middle of the Indian Ocean and ensconced in 15,000 hectares of protected marine ecosystem, Miavana is dedicated to wild-space conservation and sustainability, as well as promoting positive relationships with the local community. Their ethos to preserve and protect is just one of the many reasons we value Miavana as one of the ultimate safari extensions.
Miavana’s fourteen luxury villas start at 450 square meters with options for one, two and three bedrooms. Thatch roofs combined with clean lines and locally crafted materials create a light and natural feel throughout the resort, which is the perfect blend of modern and beach luxury. Each villa features a kitchenette, lounge, deck and pool with ocean views. The en-suite study can be converted into children’s rooms for families. Additionally, the room comes with a private butler and personal electric buggy for exploring the island.
Meet and mingle with fellow travelers at the resort’s main ‘village’ or piazza, which features an infinity pool, rooftop bar, beachside pizzeria, indoor grotto and cellar, as well as a ‘curiosity museum.’ Stretch your legs and explore the island of Nosy Ankao. Learn about the resident sea turtles and if you are around in December you can even watch the eggs hatch! Depending on the time of year and weather patterns, you can also spot whales and dolphins around the island. To experience more incredible marine life set out on an excursion to snorkel and scuba dive in this fascinating ecosystem. If you’re feeling more adventurous, learn to fly fish or kite surf with equipment and instruction. If you miss the mainland, travel by boat or helicopter (recommended) to the mainland, where you can explore Madagascar’s lush forests in search of lemurs, including the endemic Gold Crowned Sifaka. It’s the perfect mix of relaxation and exotic adventure.
