Magashi Camp

Magashi, a new luxury camp, is opening in Rwanda’s Akagera National Park in mid-December 2018. The six-tented camp will be set on the shores of Lake Rwanyakazinga in Akagera National Park – home to one of Africa’s highest hippo densities, some very large crocodiles, and (hidden within its wetlands) the secretive sitatunga and shoebill stork.

A wide range of wildlife-viewing options will be available to guests on expertly-guided game drives, walks and boating trips, including buffalo, lion, leopard, elephant, giraffe, spotted hyaena, zebra, topi, roan, eland and more.

We’re thrilled that the new addition will help make Rwanda a “one-stop-shop” for combining gorilla viewing and classic savannah safari. You can even fly between Magashi and Bisate, a premiere eco-camp in Volcanoes National Park, by helicopter for a seamless – and extra scenic – transfer.

Tip: For extra primate focus, you can also visit the chimps and monkeys of Rwanda’s western forests.
