We love Machweo and use it often. It’s an elegant, stylish, and intimate hotel whose owners are renowned for their cuisine and hospitality expertise. Machweo is just east of Arusha and resides on a hill with stunning views of Mount Meru. It consists of 9 spacious and tastefully-decorated rooms, a swimming pool, sauna, and spa. It’s great for both honeymooners and families, but less ideal for anyone with mobility issues as there are many steps.
People generally don’t spend more than one night here as Arusha is more of a stopover destination. But if you have the time, Machweo offers some fun onsite activities including a banana beer-making tour and a sunset tour around the hill. We also like that Machweo is heavily involved in some community development projects, including the iThemba Baraa Primary School initiative that supports 1450 local students.
Machweo is often compared to Onsea House as they share the same owners, but we prefer Machweo over Onsea House, as we find Onsea to be awkwardly configured and lacking Machweo’s grace.
