Kaingo Camp in the South Luangwa National Park is a two-hour road trip from Mfuwe Airport. This is one of the last independently owned properties in the South Luangwa.
Built in front of ebony groves and water channels, the area is home to leopard and buck species. The day and night game drives provide the opportunity for viewing a variety of wildlife in this game-rich park.
Photographic animal hide-outs have been set up by the owner for amazing viewings of elephant, hippo and carmine colonies. The elephant hide can even be booked for an exciting sleep-out.
Set amidst dense vegetation, Kaingo Camp’s rooms are modest, thatched mud huts with very pleasant décor, outdoor bath tubs, and decks boasting stunning vistas over the river. Breakfast and dinner are served in the unpretentious, open-plan main areas, and you have lunch in your chalet. Kaingo Camp manages to create a very nice atmosphere with lively, social conversations at meal times. All of these elements, in addition to the outstanding guiding, make it one of the best options in the area.
The camp is open from mid-May through October and has a natural and warmly inviting vibe. It is very popular with photographers.
