Jamtara Wilderness Camp

Jamtara Wilderness Camp, is a luxury tented camp located just north of Pench National Park. Hands down, the best thing about Jamtara is its private entrance into Pench. It’s the only camp in India with a private entrance to a national park and it’s hugely advantageous as it allows you to avoid the long lines of vehicles that line up to enter through the park’s main gate for morning and afternoon drives and to really capitalize on your safari experience.

The camp itself is stunning. The 10 tents reside in a forest surrounded by tall Arjuna Trees for a real jungle experience. Jamtara Wilderness Camp, Tents have solid wood floors and solid bathrooms, but the canvas walls are bright and airy. They’re pretty simple, but we love the bright colorful touches within. There is always an option for sleeping on your private verandah under a mosquito net, or for something a little more exciting, try sleeping on the Machaan (their star bed) on a raised platform over a farm field.

When you’re not searching for tigers, leopards, or wild dogs in the national park, visiting the nearby Jamtara village is a really stimulating and fun activity as you witness Indian rural life up close.
