Grootbos is located at nearly the southernmost tip of South Africa where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans collide. This is one of the most biologically diverse ecosystems on the planet. There is one of the highest concentrations of Great White Sharks in the world, and from July through November, you have a great chance of spotting Southern Right Whales.
The coast off Grootbos is home to the “Marine 5”: whales, sharks, dolphins, seals, and penguins. In addition to being a coastal attraction, Grootbos is also located within the 6,177-acre Grootbos Private Nature Reserve. These colorful rolling hills are heaven to flora lovers.
Grootbos is in a perfect location to offer some amazing water and land-based activities to experience this wonderland. Activities include whale watching, shark cage diving, scenic walks, horseback riding, birding, scenic flights, quad biking, 4×4 flower safaris, and wine tours.
Grootbos is divided into three separate lodges: The Garden Lodge, Forest Lodge, and Villa. The Villa can be booked exclusively for up to 12 people and is an incredible option for groups. Between the Forest and Garden Lodges, the Forest Lodge accommodates children of all ages while the Garden Lodge takes only children of ages 12+. Every suite on the entire property has private decks with gorgeous views and clean and comfortable accommodation. The suites have a very homely feel.
