Governors’ Camp
Governors’ Camp, Located inside the Maasai Mara (rather than in a private concession) Governors’ Camp is one of the longest established camps in the Mara and is nestled in the forests along the banks of the Mara River.
The classic canvas safari tents have views over the river and the plains of the Maasai Mara and are bright and spacious with private verandahs for extended game viewing. The main tents include a bar and dining tent where guests can socialize and relax after a busy day game viewing. Activities include game drives or balloon safaris to get a different viewpoint.
Although Governors’ has all the comforts of a hotel and the service is very good and the staff lovely, it is a large camp (37 tents) and therefore lacks intimacy. One downside of all the Governors’ camps is that, though they make efforts to mitigate the effect on clients, vehicle traffic in the area is an issue because it is home to the four Governors’ properties.
Although none are among our absolute favorites, among the four Governors’ Camp Collection properties in the Mara, we prefer Little Governors‘ for size and location.
