Fregate Private Island
Fregate Private Island, Fregate is a tropical private island in the Seychelles that is truly paradise. The lush jungle island is outlined by seven secluded world-class beaches. Mont Signal is the highest point on the island at 125 meters which guests can hike at their leisure and get fabulous views of the beaches, forests, and neighboring islands below. The island also contains a large organic plantation that supplies much of the produce used in the tantalizing cuisine.
Fregate is home to 100 species of birds including the Seychelles Magpie Robin which they’ve brought back from the brink of extinction. There is also a growing population of Giant Aldabra Tortoises (over 2000 roam the island). The land-based wildlife can be seen while on a guided nature walk, hiking, and biking around the island. One of the best times to visit Fregate is from October to January when the sea turtles are coming on shore to lay their eggs. There’s also an abundance of fish and larger marine-fauna like whales, dolphins, and manta rays to witness while you’re diving, snorkeling, fishing, sailing, surfing, or kayaking. Other activities at Fregate include treatments at the Rock Spa and stargazing.
We love how Fregate plays homage to the history and culture of the Seychelles and there are a number of places where you can really feel the creole influence here – making it so much more than solely a beach destination. We always recommend taking some time to wander through the Plantation House and Museum as well as the Chapel. The Fregate House and the Yacht Club are fun places to hang out and meet other guests which can be a nice change from your otherwise very private experience. There is also a kids club and babysitting services available so this is a great destination for families with kids of all ages.
