Damaraland Camp

Damaraland Camp is a little haven in the middle of nowhere. Its elevated adobe-style thatched chalets gaze out over a beautiful valley offering silence and tranquility after a day out on the reserve. The camp provides gorgeous views of a grassy flatland in the foreground with reddish mountains in the background. The gentle winds and endless skies offer incredible serenity.

We love the look and feel of Damaraland Camp. The décor is clean, spacious, and comfortable and we find this camp to almost induce a spa-like refreshed feeling. The main areas are very inviting and the communal dining and friendly staff provide a really warm and pleasant environment. The food here is fantastic and they offer wine pairing at dinner. Regular activities include long nature walks, visits to Burnt Mountain and the Twyfelfontein rock art, and relaxing at the camp and its pool. This is an excellent base to go desert elephant tracking, but don’t expect to see the Big Five because Damaraland is more about the scenery.

Damaraland Camp is sustainably owned and run by the local community and we think they do an outstanding job. We highly recommend it!
