Chinzombo is one of the two up-market Norman Carr Safaris properties. (Mchenja being the other.) This property is the most luxurious safari lodge in Zambia, and was designed by the same duo that created Seychelles’ North Island and Botswana’s Mombo Camp.
Open year-round, this stylish camp provides a complete Luangwa safari experience, expert guiding, and great food. Chinzombo has a real “wow” factor, a warm environment, high service standards, and great wildlife.
Private chalets are beautifully appointed with open bedrooms, decks, plunge pools, Wi-Fi, and an invitingly tranquil environment in which to relax and gaze out at the glorious views. South Luangwa National Park, just across the river from Chinzombo, has always been an excellent game viewing area for which you can go on game drives, bush walks, and visit the community project.
One drawback about South Luangwa is that it can get quite busy. This means lots of lights during the night game drives, although Chinzombo guides do a good job of avoiding the main areas. We think that the best time to stay at Chinzombo is between January and March when all the wildlife gathers in the area and few people think of going to Zambia.
Chinzombo is ideal for someone looking for an ultra-luxurious property without the price tag of Singita and Mombo and Zarafa. We also use it for a first night in the park, before guests transfer into the more remote regions of South Luangwa.
