Chamilandu is based in South Luangwa National Park on the edge of the Luangwa River. We love this riverfront camp for its panoramic views over the water and the delightfully comfortable thatch and reed chalets. Part of Chamilandu’s charm is that it is open to the elements: the bathrooms are outdoor experiences, and spacious bedrooms have verandahs overlooking the lovely Luangwa River and lagoon.
Open from mid-June through November, Chamilandu boasts an abundance of game which can be viewed on game drives and walking safaris, or while relaxing in the bar and dining area.
Chamilandu’s service is excellent and we believe this is a good fit for small groups and travelers eager to be one with nature, but it isn’t right for nervous travelers who may prefer more enclosed rooms. If you are arriving late we recommend you spend your first night at Mfuwe (or even Chinzombo) before traveling into the more remote regions of the reserve where Chamilandu is located.
