Chada Katavi is an extremely remote property in Katavi National Park located in western Tanzania. The best time to make the long trek to Katavi is during its dry season: June through October. Excellent big game-viewing will provide sightings of zebra, impala, topi, hippo, crocodile, elephant, buffalo, lion, and spotted hyena. Game drives and walking safaris here are incredible. You can even hike out to a fly camp where you can spend the night under the stars. If you choose to go in the wetter green season, then you’ll find every shade of emerald and a birders paradise between November and May; the bigger game is still there, it just takes a bit more looking to find it.
This intimate camp has only six tents that are comfortable, rustic, and simple. Their goal is to limit the distractions between you and your surroundings. Wide open fronts emphasize the views from camp, and bucket showers ensure a minimal eco-footprint. The library, dining tent, and campfire provide nice areas for guests to congregate after an active day on safari. The essence of Chada Katavi is not glamour or luxury, yet a simple accommodation that focuses on your experience in the remote African bush while providing everything you need, no extra’s, and the ultimate luxury of true wilderness. We love this hidden gem!
