The charmingly luxurious Casa San Agustin is set in the heart of the UNESCO World Heritage city of Cartagena, right in the historic center. Reimagined to maintain its colonial heritage, the hotel is spread across three white-washed homes that are connected by a 17th-century aqueduct. From original frescoes inside the library to centuries-old wood-beamed ceilings in the guest rooms, and stone gargoyles, Casa San Agustín’s architecture evokes the city’s rich history, and the warm and friendly staff makes you feel welcome immediately.

Within the three houses, there are 20 quiet, romantic guestrooms and 11 suites (some with private plunge pools!). They are decorated and have been maintained in a way that preserved the authentic, original style with gorgeous vaulted ceilings with carved wood beams. Although traditional, it still has all the modern conveniences. There’s 24-hour room service and all rooms have a coffee station, electric safes, robes and slippers, a small desk, nice toiletries, and large bathrooms with bidets and showers only. If you’re dreaming of having a view overlooking one of Cartagena’s flower-fringed balconies and the colorful, bright streets, don’t forget to ask!
The L-shaped swimming pool is exceptional—built around the 300-year-old aqueduct, it’s heated but refreshing. There’s a charming library with tea and cookies, complimentary cruiser bikes, and a fun rooftop bar. Want to try your hand at salsa? Catch the live band playing on the patio from Wednesday to Friday from 8 pm to 10 pm. The on-site restaurant, Alma, is a local favorite, showcasing Colombian-Caribbean cuisine, and coastal specialties.
The hotel sits within the walls of the old town and is within walking distance of the most popular attractions.
From here, guests get access to Acasí, the hotel’s private white sand beach on the island of Barú. To venture off on an excursion there, we can arrange a 45-minute private boat charter (at an additional cost).
