One of our favorite hotels, the small but multi-award-winning Akademie Street Boutique Hotel is a treasure.
Situated in the Winelands village of Franschhoek, the property consists of four houses which offer stylishly decorated accommodation – both comfortable and functional – and fully-fitted kitchens. Three houses have private pools and gardens, and the fourth has mountain views. The private nature of the accommodation and the romantic setting makes this ideal for a honeymoon.
Service and breakfasts are outstanding and Akademie Street is just a short walk from Franschoek’s main street’s restaurants, coffee shops, art galleries and museums. The town is a quaint mix of historical and new, with beautiful old Cape Dutch buildings, tree-lined streets and tourist attractions. It is fairly quiet at night so if you are looking for a bustling night life, the nearby university town of Stellenbosch may be a better option.
From Akademie Street Boutique Hotel you can visit the various wine estates – our particular favorites being Haute Cabriere and Grand Provence.
We highly recommend this as a superb, tranquil property in a wonderful location.
